July 2, 2008 New Faculty Mentoring Workshops - Fall 2008The Graduate School at Purdue University 's West Lafayette campus will be holding New Faculty Mentoring Workshops on the following dates, times and locations: Tuesday, September 16, 9:00am-11:00am - Stewart Center , Room 318 Wednesday, September 24, 2:00pm-4:00pm - Stewart Center , Room 322 Tuesday, October 7, 2:00pm-4:00pm - Stewart Center , Room 310 Please advise new faculty who will be starting in Fall 2008 to sign up for one of these workshops. To do so, please contact Tina Payne at tlpayne@purdue.edu or call her at 765-494-6963. The purpose of the workshop is to help prepare new faculty to supervise and mentor graduate students. Participation in the workshop is required for new faculty who have had minimal experience directing graduate students and who seek appointment to the Graduate Faculty. In addition to this workshop, faculty who wish to hold a position as a regular member of the Graduate Faculty must be nominated by their unit and be a tenure-track or voting status faculty member. Appointment to the Graduate Faculty permits a faculty member to teach graduate-level courses, to serve on graduate student advisory committees, and to chair or co-chair master's and Ph.D. committees.
