University of Maryland
I'm an assistant professor at the University of Maryland doing research and teaching in the areas of intercultural communication, organizational communication, and negotiation and conflict management. My dissertation research, which was supported by Purdue University Research Foundation (PRF), received a Top Paper award from the International Communication Association and is published in one of the field's top-tier journals.
Favorite Purdue memory:
We used to celebrate the Chinese New Year in the community center at Purdue Village. Faculty and graduate students from the Communication department brought family and friends to get together, make dumplings, watch videotaped Chinese gala, and have fun games and performances.
Advice for new grad students:
Purdue's Communication department has some of the field's best researchers and mentors: take advantage of opportunities to work with them beyond what can be obtained from regular coursework. The department has also established a tradition of excellence through a number of activities designed to help students achieve success: Get involved and fully integrate yourself into the program.
Why you should consider Purdue:
Purdue offers everything that a graduate student needs to build a successful career and have a quality life.
