"Building Your Future One Brick at a Time"

It was early in 1894 that a brand new Heavilon Hall was dedicated on the Purdue campus. It was the proud home of engineering at Purdue, with a tower that was to be a landmark for the campus. Four days later, Heavilon Hall was a pile of rubble and ashes after a disastrous fire roared through the building. Soon after the fire, President James A. Smart called the entire campus together and declared that Heavilon Hall and its tower would be rebuilt “one brick higher.” And it was!
Our careers must also be built one brick at a time, just as Heavilon Hall was built. SROP serves as an important brick in the structure of your career, providing you with experiences with new mentors, new research projects and new surroundings. All of these things will help build and shape your future and the choices you have before you.

The goal is to use these “bricks” of experience to discover what it is that really interests you…what you really want to do to pave your way to a successful future. We hope that the experience of your stay at the Purdue campus, the chance to learn more about graduate school and the opportunity to talk with other students about your research will help to build your future!
