| The
Graduate Council at its April 21, 2005 meeting approved a new employment
category for graduate student staff members. The Graduate Lecturer classification
recognizes the teaching experience of senior graduate students with
successful teaching experience who have completed all requirements for
the PhD, with the exception of the doctoral dissertation. The new classification,
which was developed initially by a College of Liberal Arts committee,
is available immediately for appropriate appointments. See this link for the rationale and criteria for Graduate Lecturers.

The Graduate School announces the promotions of Marcia Fritzlen to the position of senior coordinator of admissions and that of Pat Springer to the position of senior coordinator of records. The admissions office processes more than 15,000 applications for admissions to Purdue’s graduate programs each year. The records staff is responsible for tracking the progress of 7,000 students to their degrees from the point of matriculation to graduation. The promotions recognize the expertise and experience of both Springer and Fritzlen who have made longstanding contributions to graduate education at Purdue—in Pat Springer’s case for nearly 30 and in Marcia Fritzlen’s for nearly 20 years.
