Greetings! As all of our web stakeholders know, there have been a lot of changes to the Graduate School’s web presence in the last few months. I hope that the progress we’ve been making together has made for a better experience for the students, staff, and other visitors who depend on these pages.

I wanted to take a moment to share some of the interesting things that have been going on with the web and what’s in store for the near future.

Things to Check Out

Cascade Notes

  • The College of Science has created a Cascade Overview guide to help with publishing/editing content and pages. More technical guides can be found at the official Cascade Knowledge Base.
  • I attended a Cascade Training Conference last week and learned some really valuable information that will help us to keep improving our site. I’ve already been implementing new features and optimizations based on things covered in this training.
  • University level Cascade training opportunities may be coming to campus in the future. I will share more information on this as it comes available.

Other Updates

  • A new cycle of Web Reviews will be starting soon for those whose previous reviews were held in early summer.
  • OIGP recently ran a few Twitter ad campaigns. We tied the campaign data into Google Analytics and were able to gain some very specific insights into the effectiveness of the campaign. Contact me if your office would like to implement Google Analytics with any of your digital marketing efforts – ads, emails, or web!
  • Columbia University was recently sued for using copyrighted materials in a tweet. Make sure you have the rights to use any image you post on the web or social media. Purdue Marketing’s Photoshelter site provides us with free-to-use photos and videos. Other free sources include Pexels, Pixabay, and PicJumbo.

A New Look

Lastly, some exciting news: at a recent Purdue web group meeting, Marketing and Media informed the group of a new university wide rebranding effort. New fonts, colors, and web templates will be coming within the next few months. More details soon!
