Since the program fills up quickly, it is to your advantage to apply as early as possible. Priority consideration is given to applications received by April 1.
• I have filled out an application using the CIC Web site and picked Purdue as one of my institutions. Do I still have to fill out the application that is on the Purdue SROP Web site?
No. We will receive the application you filled out via the CIC Web site.
• May I fill out and submit the online application and mail in the rest of my application materials?
You are welcome to fill out the online application and mail the transcripts and letters of recommendation. Please note that an application is considered complete only when all documents are received.
• I am an international student currently studying in a United States’ university. Am I eligible for the Purdue SROP?
If you are currently enrolled in a degree program at a U.S. college or university and meet other requirements, you may be considered for the Purdue SROP. Preference is given to students who have graduated from an accredited U.S. high school.
It is our aim to encourage talented undergraduate students to pursue graduate education and to enhance their preparation for graduate study. As a current graduate student, you may wish to inquire with faculty in your areas of interest about their need for research assistance over the summer. • What kind of research project will I be assigned to and when?
Scholars may work in any discipline in which Purdue offers a PhD degree. (For a complete list of Purdue’s graduate programs, visit the Graduate School’s Web site.) Every effort is made to assign you to a project that is in line with your experience, interests, and career goals.
• Is it imperative that an applicant be from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group to be considered for the Purdue SROP?
It is our aim to encourage talented undergraduate students from social and economic backgrounds that are underrepresented in research careers to pursue graduate education, and to enhance their preparation for graduate study. All qualified students, including but not limited to African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, and Native American, are encouraged to apply. Participants will be selected on the basis of their interest in pursuing a research-based doctoral degree, relevant college coursework and grades, recommendation letters, and their ability to contribute to the goals of the program. • Is the program directed at certain majors or disciplines, or are students in any area eligible to apply?

• Do I have to include my research interests and/or faculty members I'm interested in working with in the application’s essay question?
The essay requests information about your career goals, your reasons for wishing to join the Purdue SROP, and what you believe you might contribute to the goals of the program. Keeping in mind the 500 word limit, you can certainly discuss your research interests and any faculty members you are interested in working with.
• Can I send a photocopy of one of my college transcripts, or do I need to send an official transcript?
Please ask the Registrar(s) of colleges or universities you are attending and have previously attended to send us an official copy of your transcript(s).
•What arrangements do program participants have to make for their daily meals?
Participants are housed in campus apartments, which include a kitchenette. In addition, various dining options are available on- and off-campus. On-campus options include the University Residences’ and Purdue Memorial Union’s dining courts, mini-marts, and restaurants.
