Our Commitment

William G. Bowen and Derek Bok in their book, The Shape of the River, Princeton University Press, 1998, note that, "it seems clear to many others, that American society needs the high-achieving black graduates who will provide leadership in every walk of life. This is the position of many top officials concerned with filling key positions in government, of CEOs ..., and other professional organizations that have repeatedly stressed the importance of attracting more minority members into their field." Academia is no exception, and Purdue is in the forefront of preparing the educators, researchers, managers, engineers, and scientists for America's future. To help competitiveness into the 21st century, we are committed to helping meet the national need for increasing the number of master's and doctoral degrees awarded to all students, including underrepresented groups.
