Current Research Interests:
A big challenge in the post genome era is to understand how proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and other molecules work together inside a living cell. We are developing chemically selective imaging methods and investigating physical chemistry principles underlying various cellular processes using the new developments and other cutting edge technologies.
We study a variety of biological processes using linear and nonlinear optical microscopy. The topics include Organization of lipids and proteins in membranes; Nonlinear optical imaging of myelin sheath, demyelination, and spinal cord injury; delivery of nano drug carriers into cancer cells; Imaging stent drug distribution and release; in vivo imaging; intracellular trafficking.
